Here I go!

This is for Anna, since she called me out in one of her blogs! Ha! Things have been pretty stinking hectic around our parts. It all played out in my favor though. The last two weeks have been full of short nights and loooong days.

In the past two weeks as I have stumbled around in pure exhaustion, BUT I did responded to one of the most memoriable calls I have responded to in my six year career as a medic. I had the opportunity to bring life into this world in the back of my ambulance on last Wednesday morning. It was one of those experiences I always wanted to have, but I never want to do it again. It all started out with your typical female patient in labor calls at midnight or around that time. So as usual you get out of the bed and go to the truck and just ride on to the call thinking good lord if you are in labor why the crap do you need me? Can't you drive yourself to the hospital? Little did I know on that night I was needed. We pulled up to the house, and low and behold there she was. Laying on the floor telling me that her baby was coming. I took her word for it. Lets just say this was not her first rodeo, nor her second or third or fourth. All I thought to myself was holy.....! So we load her up and got her in the back of the truck. When we check things out, we found a crowning head. So right there in this little ol ambulance in a little ol back yard, I delivered or let me rephrase that, I caught a healthy baby girl. Once the baby started crying, I took a big sigh or relief! It was honestly one of the most awesome things I have done in my line of work! Usually it is death that we run across, but to bring life in this world, was a high that I have never experienced before. Do I want to do it again in the back of my lil ol ambulance in the back of a lil ol yard? HEAK NO!

So after two weeks of longs days and short nights and birthing babies and everything that went along with the past two/ three weeks, I got to take a trip to Cozumel, Mexico. I today actually just got back from a cruise that Ann Lamb and I went on. Much fun was had by all. It was very relaxing, caught up on some R & R, worked on a tan, met some really cool and neat people, and overall just had a blast. My Harrison was so excited to see me today when I picked him up from school, it was the icing on the cake. Hope all is doing well...
